Suntory PepsiCo signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation with Duy Tan Plastic Recycling on supplying recycled plastic towards a circular economy

Last July, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Co., Ltd (Suntory PepsiCo) and Duy Tan Plastic Recycling Co., Ltd (Duy Tan Plastic Recycling) officially signed a 5-year strategic cooperation MOU on supplying recycled plastic to produce packaging for Suntory PepsiCo's products in the period from 2022 to 2026. Accordingly, Suntory PepsiCo is a pioneer beverage company in Vietnam market that signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with domestic manufacturers on the supply of recycled plastic towards circular economy development and creating added value for Vietnamese consumers.

According to the memorandum of understanding between the two signatories, both companies are committed to sustainable development and jointly launch initiatives to help reduce environmental impact in production, towards productivity in manufacturing and provide products of international standards to consumers. This strategic cooperation will also help create more jobs for domestic workers, support the community in environmental protection and at the same time work towards developing a circular economy in Vietnam.

In production and business activities in the Vietnamese market, Suntory PepsiCo always focuses on sustainable development for a better and better Vietnam. With a growth journey of nearly three decades in Vietnam, the company pursues the vision of “Growing for Good” and constantly launches new initiatives to serve consumers. As one of the founding members of the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam), in addition to environmental protection activities in production and with the community, Suntory PepsiCo is gradually transforming packaging from vPET bottles (packaging from virgin plastic) to rPET (packaging from recycled plastic). This will help to reduce the impact on the environment towards a greener, cleaner and more beautiful Vietnam.


Following the launch of new packaging for Pepsi bottles made from 100% recycled plastic in April, the signing ceremony between Suntory PepsiCo and Duy Tan Plastic Recycling will be the next important step that Suntory PepsiCo takes to achieve the company's goal of environmental protection in production.

Duy Tan Plastic Recycling Co., Ltd is proud to be an enterprise in Vietnam that produces recycled plastic resins of international standards, especially for the food industry. The company started construction from September 2019 in Long An, the capacity after completion is 100,000 tons/year. With modern production lines imported from Europe, in addition to ISO standards for management systems, the Company's products meet the standards of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), standards for recycled plastics used in food packaging. Since the beginning of 2022, the company has exported to the US market more than 1,000 tons of rPET recycled plastic from plastic waste and has signed a contract to export 3,000 tons of rPET from now until the end of the year.
