On 30 March 2022, in Hai Phong City, the Central Team Council, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association, Suntory Holdings Limited Group and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company Limited organized the Opening Ceremony of "Mizuiku - I love clean water" 2022.

 

 “Mizuiku” is an educational program for nature and water implemented by Suntory Group in Japan since 2004. Since 2015, “Mizuiku - I love clean water” has been piloted in Vietnam with the desire to create and contribute meaningful impact on the community. The year of 2021 marked the 7th year of "Mizuiku - I love clean water" in Vietnam with impressive results. 83 toilets projects and clean water facilities in the participating schools were built and refurbished. In which, more than 81,000 students took part in about 3,000 Mizuiku classes conducted by more than 2,400 teachers and volunteers in 15 provinces and cities all over the country. More than 1.9 million citizens have been accessed to and benefited from the activities of the program.

 

Aside from efforts to educate about water resource protection and refurbish facilities to ensure water hygiene in primary schools, "Mizuiku - I love clean water" collaborated with the Hai Phong Women's Union for the first time in 2021 to successfully implement water protection activities for thousands of local women and children. Specially, two eco-toilets from plastic bottles in a market in Hai Phong City recevied a lot of positive attention and feedbacks from the community, which recycles over 4,000 plastic bottle corresponding to approximately 660 kilograms of plastic waste.

 

In 2022, this program will continue to collaborate with the Hai Phong Women's Union to organize new events for its members to keep spreading the messange of saving and responsibility to protect clean water. In addition to maintaining its fundamental contents, the program will use information technology platforms such as livestream to arrange Mizuiku lessons for students and volunteers. Also, the development of Mizuiku application and E-learning on the program’s website will be prioritized.

 


This year, "Mizuiku - I love clean water" program will introduce Digital Homework Activity, a Vietnameseized new content based on the original format of Japan Suntory Corporation. Accordingly, at the Opening Ceremony of "Mizuiku - I love clean water" 2022, the Central Team Council in coordination with Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam launched a nationwide comic creation contest with the topic "Journey with Mizu to protect water resources”. The contest will be organized for students in grades 1 – 9 to jointly create the story ideas regarding Journey with Mizu to protect the water resources. The top three contest scripts will be utilized to make an animated film to continue 05 episodes of "Adventure of Mizu Water Droplets" which were released in 2021.
